UNITED — Aoyama: an office like a music festival

After mergers and growth, UNITED moved its engineering division into the building next door. KOKUYO designed the 424 m² office in Shibuya, finished in 2015, on the concept “UNITED FESTIVAL”: a place where teams choose different spots and enjoy creative work together, like heading to a festival.

Concept

Open with hiding places

Each place is open but has somewhere to hide. Heights differ inside and outside rooms, so only heads show, or a glimpse of the space beyond appears through a window.

01 · Terrain

Sit on the floor

Instead of sitting on furniture, people sit almost on the floor as at an outdoor festival. Steps form a landscape from the centre to the relaxation area.
