Japan Food Hygiene Association — Asakusa: SMOOTH, a clean workplace

The Japan Food Hygiene Association, with a long history since the post-war years, renovated its own building in Asakusa, Tokyo, to carry the association into the Reiwa era. Frontier Consulting turned the top floor into “the office of the future” under the concept “SMOOTH”, with soft, rounded shapes that suggest cleanliness.

Concept

SMOOTH

The association protects hygiene, so the design took hints from forms that suggest cleanliness and soft physical shapes.

SMOOTH stands for a smooth change from “before” to “from now on”, and for harmonious communication.

Agile areas and circadian light

The top floor has a lively ABW space, agile areas, circadian lighting, online booths, focus spaces and sit-stand desks. Materials that age well express continuity, and toilets and shared areas on every floor were renewed as places to switch mood.
