Concept
JUNCTION
IDOM wanted an entrance with an impact visitors had never seen, and a bright first impression. The designers folded that, and the company’s roots in car distribution, into a design concept called “JUNCTION”.
An entrance is where people gather and head off to their destinations, like roads merging. So it borrows a junction’s curves and overlaps, and outdoor elements: a ramp and wire mesh set like sculpture.

01 · Entrance
Built fast, made to order
Time was short and building work was restricted, so the designers avoided adding sprinklers where they could and lightened the hanging ring parapet enough to need no ceiling work. About twenty pieces were made to order, including the ramp, the mesh, planters and benches.

02 · ROAD
Drive your work
The biggest feature is a single road that goes all the way round the office, making it easy to move freely and choose where to work. The office concept, “DRIVE (– My Work, – My Future).”, gave the road its name: ROAD. The carpet is grey like paving stones, scattered with points of colour.

03 · Drive-in
A café in the middle
At the centre of the loop is a café designed like a drive-in. People drop in as they pass, for meals and for conversation.

04 · Meeting
Rooms along the road
Meeting rooms of different sizes line the route, and IDOM’s existing furniture was reused to suit the new office.
