AISIN — Anjo Plant: an office theme chosen in one week

AISIN moved its Anjo Plant, more than 60 years old, to a new building in an industrial park in 2024. The third floor holds a showroom, an office of about 850 m² and a canteen of about 580 m² for some 120 people. Young staff from every department formed a working group, and UCHIDA YOKO designed the office and canteen with them.

Concept

People at full power

Six volunteers formed the working group. Within just one week they settled the theme: “an office that draws out people’s full power”.

The pandemic delayed construction, but working from home and online meetings helped the shift to free address and activity-based working that the group had wanted from the start.

01 · Layout

A magnet spot at the centre

Office machines are gathered at the centre as a “magnet spot” where people meet, with meeting spaces facing it. Desks are set alternately lengthwise and crosswise so eyes meet by chance, and focus booths made in-house by AISIN line the walls.

02 · BIM and lunch

Simulated in 3D

With BIM, the team checked the space in 3D and simulated furniture, colours and lighting, such as different brightness for the centre and the desk area. The canteen layout removes crowding at lunchtime and serves many uses.
