Tetra Pak — Motoakasaka: a coffee bar in the square

Tetra Pak’s Tokyo office in Motoakasaka, 14,000 sq ft for a team of more than 150, is the first in Asia to fully apply the company’s global “Future Work Experience”. tp bennett designed it around flexible working, purpose-based spaces, digital tools and health and wellbeing, and cut the footprint by 30 per cent.

Concept

Cognitive zoning

Gentle transitions run from high-stimulation to low-stimulation areas. Desks sit along the glass, while meeting rooms, storage and focus spaces are built at the core.

Planters at each desk group and greenery as dividers soften the space; white, blue and timber help people decompress.

Second lives for materials

Recycled content was maximised, and materials and furniture were chosen with a responsible-sourcing questionnaire, take-back schemes and demountable elements in mind. Staff were coached on using the energy-saving and recycling features.
