ReproLife — Shinjuku: a white office and a hotel-lounge café

ReproLife renewed the 10th floor of its head office in Shinjuku, Tokyo. FiG removed every partition and storage unit that made the floor feel cramped, built all the storage into the walls, and split the floor into two very different designs: a clean white and blue workspace and a café that recalls a hotel lounge.

Opening up

Partitions and storage furniture were all taken out. Storage now sits inside the walls, so the floor feels wide.

Changing the design sharply between areas divides the workspace from the café without walls.

01 · Workspace

White, blue and a soft mirror

The workspace has a clean white base and the corporate blue, kept simple to support flat thinking. A long wall is clad in a gently reflecting polycarbonate mirror that makes the room feel larger and shows the passing of time from anywhere.

02 · Café

Like a hotel lounge

In the café, daylight and indirect light mix softly. Ceilings and walls of straight, parallel planes cast strong shadows, and details become more rounded the closer they are to the body.
