Kohoh — Hiroshima: a centenary office that is also a showroom

Kohoh sells office equipment, printing, office-supply delivery and recruitment services in Hiroshima, and reached its 100th anniversary when it renewed its own office. SWITCH designed the floors as a showroom for the next hundred years: a free-address sixth floor with a central counter, and a fifth floor for management and the president.

Concept

A meeting point

On the free-address floor, the most-used office machines and sample books are gathered at a central counter, so that people from different teams meet there.

A wooden top, a textured mortar base, plants and pendant lights make it easy to stop by.

A torii-arch gallery

The management office has more storage, with fixed desks but a clear-desk rule at the end of each day, which the company says has changed how staff think. A display space of torii-like arches leads from the entrance to the meeting room and the president’s office.
