for Startups, Inc. supports start-ups with both people and money: executive search for CxOs, financial support and a network of founders and VCs. Its 2,323 m² (25,010 sq ft) office at Azabudai Hills, designed by moss., is built around a circular open space with terraced benches, meant as a hub where entrepreneurs from Japan and abroad gather.

Concept

Towards the centre of evolution

The office follows the company’s vision, “for Startups”, and its mission, “Towards the center of evolution (together)”.

The open space at the centre is circular, following the building frame. Its terraced benches let people sit anywhere during seminars or in the lounge, and the shifting sightlines make conversation lively, like the basilica, the meeting hall of ancient Rome.

Planting around the upper benches

The top of the benches is wrapped in a planted garden that ties the inside to the greenery of Azabudai Hills.

A flag and a ship

A long corridor leads to the open space, inspired by the “flag” in the corporate logo and by a “ship” sailing with Azabudai Hills. More than 20 meeting rooms of different sizes line both sides.
