Cloud CIRCUS — Shinjuku: a round stage called the Circus

Cloud CIRCUS renovated its office in the business district west of Shinjuku Station. HAGISO redefined it as a place centred on collaboration, built around a round stage called the “Circus” where staff sit and talk, and where presentations and events can be held and recorded. The work was phased so the company never had to move out.

Concept

The Circus

As remote work spread, the purpose of the office shifted from desks to many kinds of exchange. The office was planned on the idea of activity-based working.

The “Circus” is a circular stage; people sit freely around it to talk, and it has equipment for presenting, holding and recording events, also with partners from outside.

01 · Sound

A gradient from loud to quiet

The layout follows the volume of work. Meeting spaces where people can talk and laugh freely are near the Circus, and individual desks are placed as far away as possible, so a clear gradient of sound runs across the floor.

02 · Phases

Renovated without moving

The old parallel desk layout was changed completely. To keep work going, the construction was done quickly and in phases, without the company having to move.
