CBRE — Marunouchi: 24 kinds of space, and murals painted by three sets of artists

When CBRE Japan moved to Marunouchi, it wanted an office that matched its standing as a top real-estate agent. Gensler cut document storage by 90%, set seats at a ratio of 1 to 1.4 for free address, and created 24 types of space — white and professional for clients, industrial and creative for staff, with murals painted by three groups of artists.

Concept

Bright White + Raw Urbanism

The goal was an office where staff share information and ideas and keep producing new business solutions. Gensler achieved an activity-based workplace: staff choose where to work according to the task.

The design concept was “Bright White + Raw Urbanism”. The client area is white to express professionalism; the work areas take an industrial look meant to encourage free thinking.

The energy of the city

Because CBRE works with the city as its stage, three groups of artists painted murals in the office that express the city’s energy and creativity.
